Classes

There is currently a waiting list for classes, see below

Due to the popularity of our classes we have a long waiting list to get into a class. We are currently in the middle of a session. Priority is given to students currently enrolled in a class, so availability is limited. The wait list is currently over 80 people, and waiting times will be at least a year or more. Open spots are given in order of date added to the waiting list. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email us at PotteryStudioBethel@gmail.com. Thank you for your interest. We apologize for the long wait.

Regular weekly classes are held at The Pottery Studio in West Bethel, Maine.  In general, classes are offered for adults 18+ only and are scheduled August - June.  Classes cover a variety of topics including wheel throwing and hand building. Each class meets once per week, two hours per class, for eight weeks.  Classes are taught by either Joshua or Martha.  Evening classes are on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday from 6 - 8 pm (studio is open from 5-9pm for extra work time before and after class). We also have one daytime class on Tuesday Mornings from 10 am - 12 pm (studio is open from 9am - 1pm). All classes include open studio day, Thursdays, from 9am - 8pm for self guided extra work time. Classes are $240 per session. Clay is purchased separately for $45 per 25 pound bag and includes all glazes and firings.

Class sessions are August-October, October-December, January-March, March-April, May-June. No regular classes are offered in July.

Our community studio is equipped with eleven pottery wheels, five electric kilns, a mixer/pugmill, slab roller, work tables, storage racks, basic tools, and a selection of studio glazes and underglazes.

Studio Rules and Guidelines may be found HERE. By enrolling in a class at The Pottery Studio, you are agreeing to follow the rules and guidelines.

Private classes for individuals or groups are available for wheel throwing or hand building. Please go to the Private Lessons section of this site for more info.

We also offer "one and done" classes through the local Bethel School District MSAD #44 Adult Education program. These classes are a great way to try pottery before committing to a longer class session. There are both “Try the Wheel” and hand building classes available.   Click here visit their website to register for these classes

If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email us at PotteryStudioBethel@gmail.com. Waiting times will be over a year. Thank you for your interest.
